Lots of our families and carers joined us at St Nicholas Church, opposite the school, to join us for our Harvest Festival. The church was completely packed, with standing room only at the back! Reverend Sam welcomed us all to St Nicholas Church and Jackie Peters from Portsmouth Foodbank was also with us to receive our donations.
It was a happy, lively Harvest celebration and we sang lots of our favourite songs including the ‘farmer’, ‘thank you for our world’ and as always over very favourite ‘Conkers’! The choir helped everyone with the words and many children accompanied the songs playing percussion instruments.
Once again our families and staff were very generous in their donations for Portsmouth Foodbank, who support lots and lots of our local families. Jackie Peters from the Foodbank joined us for the seventh year running to receive the donations! [Jackie goes to lots of Harvest Festivals, but always says Cliffdale’s is her favourite!] This year we collected lots of tins of meat for the Foodbank as well as all the usual goods that are needed to help local Portsmouth families in need throughout the winter.
Each class had decorated a harvest box and filled it with goodies, which they brought up as part of the service and gave to Jackie and Reverend Sam.
Jackie thanked everyone for all of their kind donations and told everyone of how many families need help from the Foodbank; more and more every year. Reverend Sam ended our Harvest Festival with a prayer of thanks and the choir sang us all out.
